Preparing serial dilutions: 2- Preparing the first dilution

Description

For the first dilution, you will need to obtain 900 ul of Tyrode’s solution. This is then dispensed into the next, labelled eppendorf tube. The concentrated stock solution of drug, 100 mM acetylcholine, is obtained from the ice bucket. One hundred microliters of this solution is withdrawn, and added to the 900 ul of Tyrode’s solution. The eppendorf tube is capped and inverted several times to mix, and returned to the eppendorf rack. Eventually, you will have a series of serial dilution stocks like these. As an example, if we were to use a blue dye for the 100 mM stock solution of drug, this picture demonstrates the 10-fold serial dilutions that are prepared from this stock.
